EMSim – ElectroMobilitySimulation & Tester Platform
The EMSim tester platform is a tester system for development and optimization of battery systems as well as for battery and energy management. It has been developed as a utility to help developers and manufacturers of electronic components, regulators and controllers for high capacity batteries to evaluate their products and to develop new prototypes. The tester has been implemented as a modular and flexible concept that it can be easily adapted to any innovations.
For developing the EMSim platform NOFFZ established cooperation with EUtech from Aachen, a company primarily dealing with all kinds of simulations. Their knowledge of simulations in combination with NOFFZ’s long-time experience in tester systems and signal conditioning formed the ideal preconditions for a successful project.
The tester system can be configured completely according to the customer’s needs, as far as signal conditioning or data storage is concerned. NOFFZ’s signal conditioning system and standard PXI hardware components make it possible to implement fast adaption to special characteristics of any device under test.
It is possible to simultaneously measure low and high voltages or currents with a high number of channels or to switch between these channels for measuring. This way it is possible to implement numerous different test scenarios. Because of the real-time capability of the system it is possible to measure important reference values of the DUT promptly and reproducibly.
EMSim has been realized by means of LabVIEW, TestStand and a test management framework. Because of extensive simulation libraries for Mathlab/Simulink created by EUtech is was possible to accelerate development and verification of the system.
