UTP - Universal Tester Platforms

UTP 9060

Introduction

The sUTP series is designed as a modular tester concept that can be utilized as an individual manual tester, as a diagnostic or laboratory system or as an in-line system. Combined with the SMTA the sUTP4010 can be used as an independent test and measuring device.

Increasing cost pressure and constantly reducing sizes of assembly groups and devices require integrated solutions with least possible space requirement. Fields of application for in-circuit and functional testing are becoming more and more complex as far as products from the electronic, energy, infotainment and automotive industry are concerned. Therefore there is an increasing demand for comprehensive, cost-effective testing methods and flexible test and measuring devices that can be adapted quickly to different products.

For this purpose the sUTP4510 – a new, integrated measuring and control system in the NOFFZ UTP series - has been developed. When designing this tester system the special focus was, to put on hardware adaption and signal conditioning directly within the system. Because of the compact design, it was possible to use short cabling and to realize a direct connection to the device under test.

The hardware setup is based on a small, space saving and modular system design. The tester can be used as a laboratory system, can be implemented in a rack, can be used in combination with the SMTA or can be equipped as a stand-alone tester system.

The basic configuration consists of:

sUTP 2HU 19“ chassis, (19” x 4.33” x 15.28” mm, B x H x D) containing
  • 5 open PXI slots
  • 1 PXI slot for cPCI controllers (Kontron, MEN, EKF)
  • 1 open Slot for euro-card sized carriers for assembly groups
  • Power supply:  90...240V AC, 50/60Hz
  • Opportunity to integrate signal conditioning and auxiliary voltages
  • sUTP communications interface for devices under test and additional measurement devices
  • GigE and USB 2.0 (Standard), optional: CAN, LIN, Firewire
  • Opportunity to integrate circuit boards, electrical loads, adaption elements as well as customized front panels
  • cable connections to the PXI cards (internal and external) can be equipped with customized plug connection or standardized connections to the front panel

Advantages

  • The sUPT4510 is a versatile embedded measurement and automation system for image processing und visualization, signal generation and simulation and data logging.
  • It can be used for adapter integration (SMTA), rack integration as well as for laboratory and desktop solutions.
  • It comprises a modular 6 Slot cPCI/PXI chassis offering the opportunity to integrate customized specifications and devices
  • DMMs, oscilloscopes, signal and function generators, RF signal generators, DC power supplies, switching modules and spectrum analysers can be used in combination with the sUTP 4510.

Conclusion
The sUTP is a compact, modular and versatile tester solution that can be configured according to the special needs of any project. It is a flexible device that can be equipped and used as a data logger, signal generator, embedded tester or automation system.

The sUTP is the cost-effective starter kit belonging to the NOFFZ UTP platform. It is expandable as a multichannel solution or as a complex ICT-/FKT-system. Because of its modular, universal design it is a future-proof investment in testing equipment that can be expanded and adjusted according the growing demands towards tester systems.
