Tönisvorst, 6. November 2025 – NOFFZ Technologies, in collaboration with National Instruments (Now Emerson), announces the launch of its Fast Load Transient e-Load Solution, an advanced platform purpose-built for power management IC (PMIC) validation in the era of AI computing, datacenters, and high-performance power electronics. With ultra-fast current dynamics and precise feedback control, the system enables engineers to replicate real-world transient loads and validate the next generation of power devices with unmatched accuracy and speed.
Meeting the Testing Challenge of the AI Era
The increasing performance requirements of AI accelerators, GPUs, and data center systems pose new challenges for PMIC validation. These components must process rapid, large-scale load changes while ensuring stability and efficiency. Traditional test setups and standard measuring devices are often unable to realistically simulate dynamic load behavior and operation at low voltages (<0.2 V). The NOFFZ Fast Load Transient e-Load solution closes this gap with a modular, broadband electronic load platform designed specifically for validating PMICs under real transient conditions.
Key Features and Performance Highlights
The NOFFZ Fast Load Transient e-Load Solution delivers a combination of speed, precision, and robustness tailored to next-generation PMIC validation. Its high-bandwidth current control enables the accurate reproduction of real-world transient loads, achieving slew rates of up to 150 A per microsecond. Pulse timing can be programmed from 100 nanoseconds, with a fine resolution of 35 nanoseconds, allowing engineers to precisely simulate dynamic load behavior under a wide range of conditions.
To ensure stable and accurate regulation, the system employs wideband current sensing combined with FPGA-based control. This architecture provides a highly responsive feedback loop and exceptional current measurement accuracy, even during the most demanding transient events.
Designed for seamless integration into validation environments, the solution interfaces effortlessly with NI PXI instrumentation and supports LabVIEW, Python, and InstrumentStudio APIs for full automation and flexible test workflows.
Operational reliability is further enhanced through a high-efficiency, zero-voltage switching design, achieving over 95% efficiency, supported by planar magnetics and multiple built-in protection mechanisms. These ensure safe, continuous operation even under high power and thermal stress.
Finally, a low-inductance Samtec SOLC connector interface minimizes parasitic effects and guarantees a stable, high-performance electrical connection to the device under test (DUT), enabling accurate and repeatable test results.
System Architecture
At the core of the NOFFZ Fast Load Transient e-Load Solution lies a scalable, modular system architecture designed to provide maximum flexibility for PMIC validation under dynamic load conditions.
The foundation of the setup is a motherboard PCB equipped with an integrated FPGA, Ethernet interface, and dedicated control logic for dynamic load profiling, real-time measurement acquisition, and seamless communication with the test system.
Complementing the motherboard are modular plug-in “Coupon” power stage cards, which can be configured to match the specific current requirements of the device under test (DUT). This modular approach allows engineers to easily scale current handling capabilities, ensuring efficient use of hardware across different test setups and power classes.
The system is completed by NI PXI modules that provide DUT power, additional interface and monitoring I/Os, and synchronized data exchange with the e-load motherboard. Together, these components create a fully flexible, software-driven validation environment, capable of reproducing complex transient conditions with high precision and control.
Test System Integration
To accelerate deployment and simplify operation, the solution includes a comprehensive software integration package. Engineers can take advantage of LabVIEW and Python APIs for direct control and automation of the e-load, as well as pre-built NI InstrumentStudio plug-ins for immediate test execution without additional programming.
Solution offers a ready-to-use configuration tailored for typical fast load transient testing. It includes the complete e-load hardware unit, integration APIs, and detailed guidelines for DUT board design, enabling rapid implementation in laboratory or PXI-based validation environments.
This combination of modular hardware and open, automation-ready software makes the NOFFZ Fast Load Transient e-Load Solution an ideal choice for precise and efficient PMIC validation – from standard lab characterization to fully automated test environments.
For more complex validation tasks, NOFFZ also provides a customized solution that can be adapted to unique device architectures and project demands. This version allows for tailored hardware and firmware modifications, including extended current ranges, specialized mechanical interfaces, and support for unique DUT conditions. It is particularly suited for customers developing proprietary PMIC designs or requiring seamless integration into existing, specialized test systems.
To complement this offering, our experienced validation engineers can support you by providing engineering services – including test program development, system optimization, and on-site or remote integration support, ensuring smooth deployment and maximum system performance across diverse applications.
Customer demonstrations are available upon request, offering an opportunity to experience the system’s capabilities first-hand. A live demonstration of the Fast Load Transient e-Load Solution will be showcased at the NI booth A1/332 during productronica 2025, Munich.
First production samples will be available for order in Q1 2026.
