UTP 9011 – Board-Level Testing for Infotainment and Connected Car Applications

The UTP 9011 project for a U.S.-based premium electric vehicle manufacturer, required the global deployment of four board-level testers for infotainment and connected car applications — all within an exceptionally short lead time of just 10 weeks. This challenge demanded seamless coordination across continents, from design to final on-site installation.

Next-generation smart energy meters combine precise measurement with wireless communication (wM-Bus & GSM), requiring accurate, high-throughput RF testing and full automation for large-scale production. NOFFZ developed a modular, automated test solution to meet these complex requirements.

UTP 9010 Bender and NOFFZ Solution

UTP 9010 – New End-of-Line Tester for E-Mobility Charge Controllers

NOFFZ Technologies has developed another end-of-line tester for (Bender GmbH & Co. KG-), a leading provider of systems for the safety and intelligence of electrical installations. The tester is specifically designed for the testing of charge controllers in wallboxes. The new system is based on the testers delivered in 2023 but has been adapted and enhanced to meet current requirements. Another charge controller application is planned, building on the three delivered test systems.

Reliable Motors Testing for X-Ray Machines

Mediagnost, a first tier supplier for Philips Medical Systems, needed a reliable, efficient way to
test motors for X-ray machines and other medical devices.
NOFFZ together with Mediagnost developed a LabVIEW-powered Linux OS based testing system
that automates the process, enabling real-time measurement of motor speed and electrical
performance. The system tests up to four motors at once, offers pre-set scripts or manual
control, and saves results automatically for review. Mediagnost managed to integrated the test
system into their own system. The entire measurement system runs on a virtualized
environment.

An Innovation Specialist for Safety-Critical Wireless Connectivity Applications was searching for
a solution to accurately test complex 5G Dual SIM modems and found it with the NOFFZ Base
Station Emulator.

UTP 7064 – Advanced Multi-DUT Cellular Signaling Testing

The UTP 7064 is a high-performance multi-device tester designed for thorough validation of cellular and wireless connectivity in automotive applications. With its modular and scalable architecture, the UTP 7064 delivers fast, precise test results and a future-proof platform for evolving automotive wireless technologies.

UTP 7038 – Efficient Head Unit Validation

The NOFFZ UTP 7038 is a powerful and modular test platform designed to validate multiple infotainment head units in parallel. It supports complex, next-generation automotive interfaces with maximum flexibility.

To validate its intelligent IoT applications, the company iThinx was looking for a reliable test device for Bluetooth communication. The NOFFZ ITN 1000, developed for wireless communication standards, proved itself in practical testing thanks to its high flexibility and seamless integration. Close technical coordination laid the foundation for a strong partnership — with a shared focus on forward-looking IoT test solutions.

A leading electronics manufacturer was looking for a compact and scalable solution to automate its end-of-line testing. With the NOFFZ UTP 9085 Turn-table, NOFFZ integrated multiple processes into one space-saving system, significantly boosting throughput.

UTP 5069 – High-Volume Calibration of Imaging Radar Sensors in Asia and Europe

The test system NOFFZ UTP 5069 is designed for high-volume and short cycle time end-of-line test of imaging radar sensors. A small footprint is achieved by using a Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR) reflector to generate a plane wave for sensor calibration. The two test systems complement the existing NOFFZ systems to support the customer in handling increased volumes as well as higher technical and quality requirements.

UTP 9011 – Next-Generation Test Systems for Power Supply Modules

After 10+ years of reliable performance, Scheidt & Bachmann, one of the leading providers of innovative system solutions for mobile living requested a new platform that would meet current demands while ensuring continuity of operation and system integration. The new board-level test system UTP 9011 should differ from the old one as little as possible, but as much as necessary, to ensure it is fit for the future. The existing system should be upgraded.

        UTP 9065 – Validation of Infotainment Systems for a German Tier 1 Supplier

        With the NOFFZ UTP 9065 HPC, we enable parallel monitoring and parameter testing of up to six premium infotainment systems, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability. The tester supports the various I/Os (22 different types per DUT including audio, camera, display, CAN-FD, and Automotive Ethernet signals), as well as the integrated wireless and connectivity standards.

                      Inverter/Converter Test System in Challenging Environments for Railway Industry

                      A German pioneer of e-mobility in public and freight transport requested a cutting-edge testing solutions for inverter. Ensuring optimal performance and reliability even in challenging train environments was key for them. High power requirements and replication of real-world grid conditions are a must to comprehensively evaluate the performance of train inverters.

                                  UTP 9065 – RunIn/Screening Tester for eCall Modules

                                  peiker acustic and NOFFZ developed a test system for parallel testing of up to 28 eCall modules in a climate chamber (-40 °C to +85 °C).Despite long temperature cycles (185 minutes), short test times were achieved through high parallelization and variant management. The system is based on NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, and powerful PXI hardware with connection to the customer database and iTAC.

                                  UTP 9010 – High-End Automotive Amplifier Test System

                                  A PXI-based test system was developed for Flextronics to test 24-channel high-end audio amplifiers with MOST25 bus. It enables functional and end-of-line testing (FCT & EOL) based on TestStand and LabVIEW.

                                  Highlights:

                                  • Realistic load simulation with passive precision resistors (4Ω/8Ω), cooled in load boxes.
                                  • Signal distribution via multiplexer, analysis with Audio Precision Analyzer.
                                  • Extensive electrical and audio-specific functional tests.
                                  • Modular design with interchangeable adapter for flexible use as FCT and EOL.

                                  UTP 9085 – Rotary Transfer Machine for Testing Locking Magnets

                                  An automated test system based on the NOFFZ UTP 9085 platform was developed for testing proportional locking magnets for steering systems. The system uses a rotary indexing table with six stations and a LabVIEW-based software framework. The system is flexibly expandable and can be adapted to new product families with minimal effort.

                                  UTP 9060 – Force-Displacement Lock Tester

                                  A multi-axis force-displacement measuring station based on the NOFFZ UTP 9060 was developed for WITTE Automotive to precisely analyze the opening and closing behavior of tailgate and lid locks—also usable in aviation or medical technology.

                                  Highlights:

                                  • Multiple linear axes (X, Y, Z) for precise positioning
                                  • Interchangeable adapters for different lock types
                                  • LabVIEW-based modular software with graphical evaluation
                                  • Force measurement up to 2 kN, displacement measurement with incremental encoder

                                  UTP 9010 – Universal Tester for IPC Platform & I/O Modules

                                  The NOFFZ UTP 9010 test system was developed as a universal solution for testing (including: USB, PCIe, LAN, RTC, SD slot, gold caps) and programming a wide range of controllers and I/O modules with a high degree of variability. It is modularly expandable, e.g., for voltage/current measurement (±10V / 4–20 mA).

                                  • Combines in-circuit testing (ICT), boundary scan (BST), and functional testing (FCT)
                                  • Calibration of thermal and analog modules
                                  • Flashing of integrated FPGAs via boundary scan or backplane bus

                                  Navigation System Test with Turntable and Map Simulation

                                  A newly developed test system enables precise laboratory testing of modern navigation systems by combining turntable simulation (stimulates the curve sensors in the navigation device) and GPS/CAN data playback.

                                  Software-Defined Radio (SDR) Radio Link Simulation with NOFFZ & NI PXI-RF

                                  The modular and compact SDR radio link simulator (NOFFZ UTP SDR) based on the NI PXIe platform was developed to simulate disturbed transmission links under realistic conditions and to efficiently test digital transmission methods.

                                  A scalable, flexible test system was developed for Miele, a German manufacturer of household appliances, to efficiently test a wide range of product variants (e.g., stoves, dryers). The goal was to create a standardized, modular test concept based on current technologies that would enable both single-station and in-line operation.

                                  Highlights:

                                  • Use of NI PXI/TestStand and VPC modules (978 contacts)
                                  • Tests up to 240V, testing of LEDs, displays, sensors, bus systems, power supply units

                                  Haptic Tester

                                  The haptic testing device developed by Fraunhofer UMSICHT and NOFFZ Technologies serves to link objective measurement data (e.g., force, temperature, movement) with the subjective haptic perception of material samples. The aim is to better understand the haptic quality of plastics and to design them in a targeted manner.

                                  Highlights:

                                  • Two test modes: Painting over a force measurement plate & lifting a test weight
                                  • Infrared camera for capturing thermal images on contact

                                  Tester for Grinding and Cutting Units

                                  NOFFZ has implemented a powerful test system for Innovent GmbH for the development and validation of cutting and grinding units in production line operation. At its core is a measuring and control panel with several individually controllable frequency converters (up to 5.5 kW) for controlling asynchronous and servo motors. Each motor can be configured individually (speed, direction, ramp) and sensors (temperature, pressure, speed) can be evaluated via a touchscreen interface.

                                  UTP 9010 – RF EOL Test System for Infotainment and eCall Modules

                                  With the UTP 9010 RF EOL, NOFFZ has developed a powerful RF and functional test system for infotainment and eCall modules, especially for parallel testing of four test objects. It is based on NI TestStand and the NI Wireless Test System (WTS) now Universal Wireless Tester (UWT). The system is future-proof, scalable, and suitable for high volumes.
