Fully Automated EOL Tester UTP 9090

You are here:

The NOFFZ UTP 9090 is a fully automated, robot-assisted End-of-Line (EOL) test cell designed for 5G communication modules in high-volume automotive production. A Mitsubishi industrial robot equipped with a NOFFZ Quattro gripper removes two DUTs and simultaneously loads two new DUTs into the test adapter, reducing a five-minute 5G functional test to an effective cycle time of approximately 10 seconds per DUT. Coplanarity inspection, laser marking, and OK/NOK sorting are integrated within the same test cell.

Fully Automated EOL Tester UTP 9090 for 5G Communication Modules

High-Volume 5G Module Testing through Robotic Parallelization

Built for manufacturers scaling 5G module testing from small-batch validation to series production, the UTP 9090 extends the NOFFZ Universal Tester Platform (UTP) with full robotic automation.

It combines an industrial robot with a NOFFZ Quattro gripper, parallel test adapters, coplanarity inspection, laser marking, and automatic OK/NOK sorting in a single test cell. Although the 5G functional test for an individual module takes around five minutes, the parallel architecture achieves an effective cycle time of approximately 10 seconds per DUT.

NOFFZ UTP 9090

From Prototype to Scalable Series Testing for Kontron Automotive

After validating the test strategy with a manual adapter in small-batch production, Kontron Automotive needed a solution for high-volume series testing. The challenge: a functional test time of around five minutes per DUT versus a target cycle time that was tightened from 20 to just 10 seconds shortly before project start.

NOFFZ answered with a fully automated robotic test cell built on consistent parallelization – and reached an effective cycle time of approximately 10 seconds per DUT. Further systems and expansions are already being planned.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the UTP 9090?

The UTP 9090 is a fully automated robotic end-of-line test cell from NOFFZ Technologies for high-volume testing of 5G communication modules. It is part of the NOFFZ Universal Tester Platform (UTP).

How can a five-minute test reach a 10-second cycle time?

Multiple test adapters operate in parallel, while a robot equipped with a Quattro gripper continuously unloads two DUTs and immediately loads two new ones, significantly reducing handling time. Distributing the individual tests across parallel test stations results in an effective cycle time of around 10 seconds per DUT.

Which inspection steps are included besides the 5G functional test?

Coplanarity inspection of the contact points, laser marking of passed units, and automatic OK/NOK separation with tray handling and a reject conveyor.

Can the system be expanded later?

Yes. The architecture is scalable, and additional test stations can be added to increase capacity.

How is traceability ensured?

Every passed DUT receives a permanent, customer-specific laser marking that links the product to its measurement data.
